Cardiac rhythm management devices can be classified into three major categories:

• Pacemaker is used to treat bradycardia
• Implantable Cardiac Defibrillator (ICD) is used to treat tachycardia
• Cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT), also referred to as three-chamber cardiac rhythm management device category, consists of 3-chamber pacemakers (CRT-P) and 3-chamber defibrillators (CRT-D).

Các dây điện cực thì thường do bác sĩ chọn tùy trường hợp. Đường kính đo bằng French (1 F= 1/3 mm). Tất cả các điện cực tạo nhịp Biotronik đều có lớp phủ fractal Iridium giúp giảm ngưỡng tạo nhịp cùng lúc tăng trở kháng tạo nhịp giúp tiết kiệm pin.
